In a low-scoring affair between the Waimalu Nene and the Mokule'ia Oceanic, pitcher Bob Cooper was the difference between victory and defeat. The Waimalu right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Nene win. Waimalu, at 32-29, sits in last place in the Hawaiian League Aloha.

Waimalu won the game in part because of Darren Paynter. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Nene ahead, 2-0. For the game, Paynter had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
