Oceanic Score Late to Win, 3-2
|
The Mokule'ia Oceanic faced a tough opponent in Mauna Loa pitcher Shao-qi Bu, but found a way to pull out the victory at Recoil Stadium by a final score of 3-2 in 11 innings. Bu went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win went to Chris Valentín in relief, making him now 3-0. Robbie Lane took the loss for Mauna Loa. Mokule'ia, at 38-20, holds down first place in the Hawaiian League Aloha.
Mokule'ia used the timely hitting of Chris James to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Oceanic on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"That was a good baseball game," said James.
