Volcanoes Get Thrilling 6-5 Win
|
The Kilauea Volcanoes faced a tough opponent in Kobayashi pitcher Munro Torr, but still scratched out a win at Foresters Ballpark by a final score of 6-5 in 11 innings. Torr went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs. The Volcanoes sit in last place in the Hawaiian League Archipelago with a record of 13-44.
Kilauea got a game-changing hit from Johnny Phillips. The center fielder blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a winner.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Chris Simpson, the Kilauea skipper. "This one tested us."
