The Kauai Monsters topped the Lana'i City Pineapples, 5-1, in Hawaiian League action at Brewers Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Kauai pitcher Albert Johnson. The Monsters improved to 33-26.

The Pineapples had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Monsters going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old left fielder Arthur Hoyes came to the plate. Hoyes hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 fastball from Lana'i City hurler Juan Rúbio. It was Hoyes's 7th double of the year.

"It was a good effort all around," said Johnson.
