The Mauna Loa Vulcans beat the Waimalu Nene, 6-5. Mauna Loa pitcher and Caguas, Puerto Rico, native Mike Martínez led the way. The winner was Mauna Loa reliever Gary Graham, now 2-0. The loser was Jason Lowe. The defeat makes Waimalu 29-27.

Bernd Speck was the walk-off hero for Mauna Loa. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Vulcans catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Mike looked very determined to have a good game," said Mauna Loa manager Juan Flores. "He was totally focused and he produced."
