The Mauna Loa Vulcans defeated the Waimalu Nene, 5-3, in Hawaiian League action at Recoil Stadium. Mauna Loa pitcher Mario Valentín had a standout performance. The win puts Mauna Loa at 32-22 this season.

Mauna Loa right fielder Cliff Braams contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a curveball to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 36th hit of the season and put the Vulcans ahead, 3-0.
