Misao Samurakami pitched well, but his team, the Hilo Hoops, still dropped a 3-2 decision to the Mokule'ia Oceanic at Lost Island Ballpark. Aldous Damaske picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Misao Samurakami was tagged with the loss. Mokule'ia, at 37-18, occupies first place in the Hawaiian League Aloha.
Dave Alford aided the Mokule'ia cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 4.
"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Alford said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
