The Kilauea Volcanoes and Ewa Beach Imperialists played an entertaining game for Rison Grounds patrons.
Wendell Bursill was locked in. The right-hander led the Kilauea Volcanoes to a 4-3 win against the Ewa Beach Imperialists at Rison Grounds. The save was credited to Joyo Lubis, his 1st.
Kilauea used a clutch at-bat from Lonnie Smith to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Volcanoes ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Smith called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
With the win, the Volcanoes improved to 12-43.
