Hilo Ballpark was the site of a tense game between the Hilo Hoops and Mauna Loa Vulcans.

Manny Gómez pitched well, but his team, the Hilo Hoops, still dropped a 3-1 decision to the Mauna Loa Vulcans at Hilo Ballpark. The first-place Vulcans improved to 30-22.

Kenny Reed, who is tied for 3rd in the HL in triples with 4, had a direct impact on the outcome. Reed contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Mauna Loa up, 2-0.

"Every loss hurts," said Hilo manager Ray Gilbert. "But this was a tough one."
