Missionaries Rack Up 2-1 Win Versus Thornton
|
Starting pitcher Nathan Comyn gave the Provo Missionaries a rock-solid effort. The Aberdeen, Scotland native helped his team defeat the Thornton Sun Dogs, 2-1, at Field of the Missionaries. Comyn, now 10-6, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Tringen Presser recorded his 9th save for Provo.
Fernando Sánchez went 2 for 3 with 2 singles for Provo. The 28-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Henry Cluett. It was his 22nd RBI of the season.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Thornton manager Mark Richardson, "let me know."
The defeat makes Thornton 50-51.
