Saguaros Drop Shmoes, 5-2
|
The Tijuana Saguaros clipped the Mexicali Shmoes, 5-2, in 16 innings at Shmoes Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Tijuana pitcher and Elgin, Scotland, native Benjamin Ross. At 35-51, the Saguaros find themselves in last place in the Baja Cali League Mexican.
Scotty Young was 1-5 with a walk and was hit by a pitch for Tijuana. The 21-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the 16th. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Max Andrews. It was his 12th RBI of the season.
Tijuana manager Manuel Aguilar called it "a darn good win."
