The game between Maui and Kauai is in the books, despite a little rain.
Pablo Acevedo, who is tied for 8th in the HL with a 9.4 K/9 rate, propelled his team to victory over the Kauai Monsters. The final score was 4-2, Maui. Acevedo yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-6.
The Mahi-Mahi got a big at-bat from right fielder Gerardo Muñóz. For the game, Muñóz was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Maui a 2-0 lead.
"Pablo was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Maui manager Eddy McBride.
The 5th-place Mahi-Mahi now have a record of 17-34.
