Sakei Hits 2 home runs in Swamp Dragons Win
|
Led by Senichi Sakei, the Osakasayama Swamp Dragons defeated the Maui Mahi-Mahi, 7-1. Sakei, a native of Sagamihara, Kanagawa, was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Swamp Dragons. Osakasayama leads the Hawaiian League Ninja by 3½ games.
Walt Nelligan had a big 2-run double for the Swamp Dragons in the bottom of the third inning. With Osakasayama leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Sumitomo Kawai and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Swamp Dragons ahead, 3-0.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Nelligan.
