Jouda Helps Hilo Cruise to 10-3 Win
Soggy conditions did not keep Hilo and Kilauea from playing their scheduled game.

The Hilo Hoops stopped the Kilauea Volcanoes, 10-3, behind an impressive performance from Sadanobu Jouda. The 21-year old second baseman made life miserable for Kilauea pitching. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Manny Gómez went 5 innings for Hilo to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 1 run. He scattered 9 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record improves to 6-1.

Rod O'Neil drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate, while scoring 2 times for Hilo. The 21-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Yaichiro Shiraishi. It was his 29th RBI of the season.

"We did a lot of things right," said Jouda.

The win puts Hilo at 25-22 this season.
