Losing Trend Continues for Maui
The Kobayashi Fireflies defeated the Maui Mahi-Mahi, 5-3, in Hawaiian League action at Kokua Gardens. Kobayashi pitcher Munro Torr had a standout performance. Torr got the win, improving to 4-2. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. He allowed 1 run. Albert Hayes notched his 5th save of the season.

Kobayashi used a clutch at-bat from Rubén Barrón to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Fireflies ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We need to step it up, period," said an agitated Maui manager Eddy McBride.

Maui is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 10 games.
