Puckmen Get Close Win Over Gigans, 2-1
|
Niigata pitcher Shigetoki Takahashi gave the Puckmen all they could handle, but in the end, Namuko left Puckmen Ballpark with a win, 2-1. Takahashi allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 6.1 innings. The Puckmen now own a record of 45-53.
Had Joseph Oulton not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Oulton hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Puckmen.
"Tough loss," said Niigata manager Bill Holt. "The kind that burns a little inside."
