Bankers Use Late Surge to Win
|
The National City Bankers topped the Nagano Olympians, 4-1, in Baja Cali League action at Bankers Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to National City pitcher and Oakdale, Minnesota, native Jesús Solís. Sojuro Chouda earned save number 6 this season. The Bankers saw their win-loss record go to 32-44. At the same time, the Olympians fell to 30-46.
Miguel Medina, who is tied for 10th in the BCL in bases on balls with 46, took Nagano hurler Gaetan Deangelo deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run home run put the Bankers on top, 4-1. In all, Medina had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Nagano manager Sozen Tamura.
