The skies opened up and the rain fell at Target Field.
Tijuana catcher Elmer Corbett was instrumental in helping the Saguaros triumph, 9-1, over the Chula Vista Chargers. Corbett went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Thomas Howard was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 1 run on 3 hits, with 5 walks and 7 strikeouts.
Liam Christie went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Tijuana. The 22-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jessy Bakermans. It was his 3rd walk of the season.
"Things went our way," said Christie.
The win puts Tijuana at 29-48.
