The Takaoka Shiko defeated the Tijuana Saguaros, 12-4. Right Fielder Norm McDonald deserved a large share of the credit. McDonald hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Shiko. The win was credited to Shuncho Samurakami in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Thomas Howard took the loss. Dusty Kennedy earned the save, his 3rd, for the Shiko.

Takaoka used a clutch at-bat from Yoshisada Shimizu to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Shiko ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Every manager loves to see an offensive outburst from his team," said Takaoka skipper Ichizo Nakayama.

Takaoka has now won 3 in a row.
