Chargers Use Late Rally to Win
|
Chula Vista registered a win at Ballpark of El Cajon by beating the El Cajon Virus, 4-3. Pitcher Declan Gazzard was one reason why the Chargers triumphed. Kosami Ohayashi picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-2. Neil Taylor, who is tied for 3rd in the BCL in holds with 6, was tagged with the loss. Brenton Walker recorded his 3rd save for Chula Vista.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Johannes Daecher? The 21-year old right fielder Daecher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Chula Vista up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Declan was doing a good job pouring in strikes," said Chula Vista manager Ben Mayfield.
Chula Vista is now 24-39.
