Lincoln Collects 3-0 Win
|
Lincoln pitcher Gary Ross had a large part in his team beating the West Valley City Grizzlies, 3-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ross picked up the win for Lincoln, going 7.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 6-6. By defeating West Valley City, the third-place Emancipation improved to 50-44.
Hwui-ning Yei had a big 2-run double for the Emancipation in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Lincoln leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a splitter from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Díaz and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 20th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Emancipation ahead, 3-0.
Lincoln manager Juan Ávila praised his team's "businesslike approach."
