Gonzáles Helps Plumbers Beat Lakota, 7-5
|
Led by 22-year-old José Gonzáles, the Yokohama Plumbers downed the Sioux Falls Lakota, 7-5. Gonzáles went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 4 times for Yokohama. Terao Ito earned his 13th save, after closing out the game. Yokohama is in first place in the Rocky Mountain League Pacific with a record of 41-32.
Yokohama won the game in part because of Tsuginori Takahashi. The designated hitter ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Plumbers ahead, 6-0. For the game, Takahashi had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
Postgame, Plumbers manager Nobukazu Tanaka complimented Gonzáles. "No question about it. Junkyard was terrific."
