The Niigata Gigans knocked off the Lincoln Emancipation, 6-1, at Emancipation Stadium. Masayuki Ishida was a big reason Niigata won. The left fielder went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Shigetoki Takahashi picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 5-4. Niigata has now won 3 in a row.
With Niigata leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Ishida hit a slider from Lu Au for a bases-clearing double. It was his 11th double of the season and put the Gigans ahead, 4-0.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Niigata skipper Bill Holt.
