Grizzlies Lose at Home, 5-3, to Chandler
|
Chandler designated hitter Bronson Thornton helped his team beat the West Valley City Grizzlies, 5-3. Thornton, who is tied for 4th in the RML in stolen bases with 15, went 2 for 4 for the Waxers. Jesús Guerrero went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits. The right-hander, who is tied for 5th in the RML in wins with 6, struck out 7 and walked 2. With the win, he's now 6-3 this season. The win elevated the Waxers to 32-28.
Thornton had a timely hit for Chandler in the top of the seventh. With Chandler trailing 3-2, he turned a 1-0 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season, making it 5-3, Chandler.
"I thought we competed really well," said Waxers manager Pat Holman. "I thought the energy was really good."
