The Kyoto Rodan defeated the Racine Lakers, 4-2, in Rocky Mountain League action at Laker Stadium. Kyoto pitcher Yoshifumi Ohara had a standout performance. Ohara yielded 2 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-5. By defeating Racine, the last-place Rodan improved to 21-37.

Kyoto used the timely hitting of Takehide Kichida to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rodan on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

After the game, Kyoto manager Arnie Miller applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
