Mauna Loa Vulcans starter Javier Macías hurled his team past the Maui Mahi-Mahi, 7-0. The first-place Vulcans bumped their record to 19-14.

Nicky Desforges had a big solo home run for the Vulcans in the top of the sixth inning. With Mauna Loa leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a curveball from Juan Rivero and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Vulcans ahead, 2-0.

"Javier has the heart of a gladiator," said Mauna Loa manager Juan Flores.
