Shirakawa Triumphs with Late Surge
|
The Shirakawa Halberds had to weather a strong performance from Mauna Loa pitcher Luis Miranda before claiming a 3-2 win in 10 innings. Miranda went 8.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Today's win puts Shirakawa at 11-21, while Mauna Loa falls to 18-14.
The game-ending blow was delivered by Ricky Curry in the bottom of the tenth. That's when he hit a solo home run off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Jesús Torres to win it for Shirakawa and cause the home crowd to erupt in celebration.
"Exciting game to play in," said Curry. "Getting the win makes it even better."
