Hoops Win at Kobayashi, 3-1

The Hilo Hoops downed the Kobayashi Fireflies, 3-1, at Blacksnakes Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Guillermo Alfaro had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who leads the HL in wins with 4, handcuffed his opponent all game. Alfaro picked up the win for Hilo, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 4-3. The win makes Hilo 17-14.
Mark Larson, who is tied for 6th in the HL in triples with 2, had a direct impact on the outcome. Larson contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Hilo up, 2-0.
Alfaro was in a reflective mood after the contest. He told the Hilo Daily News, "Every game is it's own challenge. That's what keeps the competitive fire alive."
