The Mauna Loa Vulcans beat the Shirakawa Halberds, 7-4, at Halberds Ballpark. Mauna Loa first baseman Ty Raines had an outstanding performance. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The winner in relief was Jin-song Lau. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. At 17-13, Mauna Loa is in second place in the Hawaiian League Archipelago.

Raines had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-2 fastball from Chip Hernández, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Vulcans a 7-4 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Raines.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Raines told a Mauna Loa Daily reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
