Kobayashi starter Addy Wemerman kept the Osakasayama hitters in check, helping his team cruise to a win, 9-1. Wemerman got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. The loss makes Osakasayama 19-11.
Gabriel Béltre had a big 3-run home run for the Fireflies in the top of the first inning. With Kobayashi leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Sekien Sai and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Fireflies on top, 6-0.
"We took it on the chin tonight," said losing manager Shingen Okamoto.
