Mauna Loa turned a good performance from starting pitcher Javier Macías into a 6-0 triumph over the Osakasayama Swamp Dragons at Recoil Stadium. Macías yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-1. The first-place Vulcans improved to 15-8.

Kenny Reed had a big 2-run double for the Vulcans in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Mauna Loa leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Fu-chi Xiong and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Vulcans ahead, 3-0.

"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Reed told the Mauna Loa Daily.
