The Shirakawa Halberds beat the Kailua Hanso, 13-10 -- though it took them 10 innings. Shirakawa left fielder Ichiro Furuta had a pretty good game. He went 2-6 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Miguel Otano, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Halberds have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 6th win in 19 games.

Edward Ellison came through with a big-time hit for Shirakawa. The shortstop smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 13-10. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"If you were looking for a pitchers' duel," said Furuta, "this wasn't it."
