Hoops Pull Off Thrilling 8-7 Win in Extras
|
The home squad pulled out a thrilling walk-off win.
The Hilo Hoops withstood a good performance by Kobayashi second baseman Corey Smith to knock off Kobayashi, 8-7, in 14 innings. Smith went 4 for 7 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The win puts Hilo at 6-10.
Hilo got a knockout punch from Rod O'Neil. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the 14th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
In postgame remarks, O'Neil said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
