Imperialists Handed 4-3 Loss by Vulcans
|
The Mauna Loa Vulcans stopped the Ewa Beach Imperialists, 4-3, at Recoil Stadium. The Vulcans got a big game from Ty Raines, who went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mario Valentín, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 2.2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Picking up his 5th save was 21-year old right-handed pitcher Robbie Lane.
Mauna Loa took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 2nd, Rob Reed hit a run-scoring single to make it 3-2, Vulcans.
"We were the better team," crowed Reed.
The victory makes Mauna Loa 10-7, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 2042.
