Vulcans Fall Short, 9-8, at Waimalu
The Waimalu Nene weathered an outstanding game by Mauna Loa right fielder Richard Moss to topple the Vulcans, 9-8. Moss was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Waimalu reliever Lawrence Hayes picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Shao-qi Bu absorbed the loss. The triumph makes Waimalu 6-4, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 2042.

Alejandro Ibarra hit a 3-run home run off Shao-qi Bu in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Nene ahead, 9-8. In addition to the homer, Ibarra had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Ibarra told the Waimalu Chronicle.
