Due in part to left fielder Cliff Braams, the Mauna Loa Vulcans chopped down the Waimalu Nene, 8-5, in 10 innings. Braams was 2-5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Mauna Loa reliever Wendell Morris picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Micheal McShane was saddled with the loss. The Vulcans, now 8-0, have stormed out of the gates.

Motoki Kouda drew 1 walk for Mauna Loa. The 22-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Micheal McShane. It was his 1st walk of the season.

"This team is hotter than heck," said Mauna Loa manager Juan Flores.
