Hoops Post 3-1 Win

In a low-scoring affair between the Hilo Hoops and the Mokule'ia Oceanic, pitcher Sadaharu Fujii was the difference between victory and defeat. The Hilo right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Hoops win. Mokule'ia, with the loss, is still a robust 7-2.
Kenko Takeda had a big solo home run for the Hoops in the bottom of the third inning. With Hilo leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Yifu Ran and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Hoops on top, 2-0.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Hoops manager Ray Gilbert. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
