Kobayashi Drops Yasu, 6-3
|
The inspired effort of Yasu second baseman Mike Payne was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-3, to the Kobayashi Fireflies. Payne hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Addy Wemerman, the winning pitcher, is now 1-0. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 2. The win leaves Kobayashi with a record of 6-4.
Kobayashi used a clutch at-bat from Marcos Dávila to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Fireflies ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It feels good to get this one," Dávila told the Kobayashi Daily News.
