In a low-scoring affair between the Waimalu Nene and the Hilo Hoops, pitcher António Villarreal was the difference between victory and defeat. The Waimalu right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Nene win. The win lifts Waimalu to a record of 3-1.

Waimalu took a 3-2 lead on Greg Williams's 2nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Williams hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Hilo pitcher Sadao Takahashi visibly frustrated.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Villarreal.
