Traders Use Late Score to Top Prospectors, 4-3
|
Takeji Meshizuka did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Skagway Prospectors from being beaten, 4-3, to the Kenai Traders at Prospector Park. Meshizuka was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Kenai reliever Pedro Quiñones was the winner. His record is now 4-3. Masaki Okada took the loss. Logan Larsen, credited with the save, is now 23 for 24 in save opportunities.
Dermott Isworth's at-bat in the top of the fifth inning was a big one for Kenai. Coming to bat with two out, runners on 1st and 2nd and Kenai trailing 3-2, the third baseman hit a run-scoring single.
"Winning is contagious," said Isworth. "We're looking forward to the next game."
Kenai has now won 3 straight, while the Prospectors have lost 6 in a row.
