The Ketchikan Salmon besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Sitka center fielder Chip Foster by beating the Capitals, 6-5, at Capitals Park. Foster hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Goldofrede Burmester came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Okitsugu Kouda earned the save for Ketchikan, his 29th.

Had Ron Arellano not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Arellano hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Salmon.

"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Arellano told the Ketchikan Today.

Ketchikan currently is in second place in the Alaskan League Fisher at 71-39.
