Mercalo Leads Whitehorse Past Kivalina

The Kivalina Bowheads had to reckon with Whitehorse Explorers hurler Mario Mercalo. Mercalo, who is tied for 9th in the AL in quality starts with 12, overwhelmed the opposition in the 8-0 Explorers triumph. Whitehorse has now won 5 in a row.
Mercalo was dominant for Whitehorse. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits, while racking up 9 strikeouts. He threw 98 pitches over 7.1 innings in the contest.
