Multi-HR Day for Simpson as Wallbangers Overpower Eleven, 11-6
|
The Homer Wallbangers welcomed the Cold Bay Eleven to an night game at Lions Ballpark.
Benefiting from Harry Simpson's productive game, the Homer Wallbangers downed the Cold Bay Eleven, 11-6. Simpson was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Wallbangers. Gwon-soo Yi went 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. The right-hander struck out 2 and walked 5. With the win, he's now 6-1 this season.
Juan Muñíz had a big grand slam home run for the Wallbangers in the bottom of the third inning. With Homer leading 5-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Jesús Rivas and swatted a home run to left. It was his 9th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wallbangers ahead, 9-2.
Simpson said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
With the win, Homer pushed its record to 57-45.
