Sledge Dogs Turn Back Avalanche, 5-3
|
The Wasilla Sledge Dogs locked up a win at Oceans Ballpark, knocking off the Angoon Avalanche, 5-3. On the mound for Wasilla was left-hander Ramón González. He played a major role in the triumph. Javier Tovar, credited with the save, is now 2 for 3 in save opportunities. The loss makes Angoon 37-67.
The Sledge Dogs got a big at-bat from left fielder Kelly Bruce. For the game, Bruce went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 30th home run of the season gave Wasilla a 2-0 lead.
"Ramón is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Wasilla manager Juan Rodríguez.
