Traders Stay Hot, Beat Capitals, 11-1

The Kenai Traders thumped the Sitka Capitals, 11-1, at Capitals Park. Liu-liang Chong was a big reason his team got the win. Chong went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Manny Méndez was the winner. He's now 9-5. The loser was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Shigeru Ueda. Luis Soriano notched his 3rd save of the season.
Kenai designated hitter Roger Darrah contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Traders ahead, 4-1.
"Nothing to write home about," Sitka manager Raleigh Collins said, when asked afterward about the game.
Sitka has now lost 4 consecutive games.
