Akutan Island Tags Barrow with 3-1 Defeat
|
The Akutan Island Eagles beat the Barrow Arctic Blast, 3-1. Akutan Island pitcher and Halawa, Hawaii, native Bill Carson led the way. Carson got the win, improving to 4-4. He gave up no hits and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Gérard Léonard, credited with the save, is now 19 for 29 in save opportunities.
Akutan Island won the game in part because of Carlos Tristar. The right fielder ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Eagles ahead, 3-0. For the game, Tristar had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"This was a tough loss," said Barrow manager Azumamaro Fujita. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
