The Anchorage Mighty Moose besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Fairbanks designated hitter Alfredo Morales by beating the Grunts, 4-3, at Citizens Ballpark. Morales was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Noriaki Masuda earned the win for Anchorage. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-1. Pat Clark earned the save for Anchorage, his 9th of the year.
The Mighty Moose got a big at-bat from right fielder Billy Davis. For the game, Davis was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Anchorage a 4-2 lead.
"We're in some kind of groove right now," said Davis.
The current losing streak for Fairbanks has reached 6 games.
