Arctic Blast Hang 6-1 Loss on Avalanche
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Barrow Arctic Blast and Angoon Avalanche.
Angoon had no answer for 19-year old right-handed pitcher Jay Gallimore. The Barrow Arctic Blast starter stymied Avalanche hitters, helping the Arctic Blast cruise to victory, 6-1. Gallimore, now 4-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run.
Barrow relied on the bat of Carlos García to get the win. The first baseman produced a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Arctic Blast ahead, 3-0. For the game, García had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," García told the Barrow Times.
With the win over Angoon, the Arctic Blast improved to 40-44.
