Bowheads Handle Barrow, Snag 2-1 Win
|
Kivalina turned a good effort from starter Jason Davis into a win over the Barrow Arctic Blast at The Sanctuary. The final score was 2-1. In 8 innings, Davis surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Kivalina, now 49-30, holds down first place in the Alaskan League Klondike.
Goro Sawada was 1-2 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs for Kivalina. The 21-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ignacio Ocasio. It was his 24th walk of the season.
"The Bowheads earned it," said Barrow manager Azumamaro Fujita. "Hats off to them."
