Mighty Moose Handle Sledge Dogs, Grab 9-4 Win
|
The Anchorage Mighty Moose topped the Wasilla Sledge Dogs, 9-4, in Alaskan League action at Citizens Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Anchorage pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Enrique Muñóz. Muñóz yielded no runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-1. Anchorage sits in third place in the Alaskan League Oiler at 41-38.
Takafumi Samurakami had a big grand slam home run for the Mighty Moose in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Anchorage leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Ramón González and punished it. The result was his 18th home run of the season, which put the Mighty Moose on top, 5-0.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Samurakami told the Anchorage Bulletin. "But we take nothing for granted."
